Giants

I think of all the lessons that life has to teach,

Is life a road? I think it’s more a beach,

We always move towards the wetter sand,

Trying to design with a shovel and pail in hand,

Building from scratch the castle of which we dream,

Surrounded by a moat or a little gleaming stream,

We close our eyes as we begin to think,

We draw a picture within every time we blink,

The pages they turn as we walk along the sea,

The sun in the horizon glittering over our reality,

Our legs grow wary and then begin to shake,

Our dreams begin to blur, our courage – break,

As we meet our fates, our fears begin to realize,

We begin to understand the folly in our most sought prize,

The wind blows in our faces washing away the doubt,

With every new step forward we know more what life is about,

We protect the castle still with all our strength and might,

Even though we know that the design is not at all right,

The shells we find – memories become the armor for our guards,

Even as we look up seeking answers within the stars,

We stand proud like giants over what we build,

Always alert and attentive on the constant lookout for evil,

Always the tide she swells and the mighty castle is drained,

But we vow to rebuild – for the dream remains unstained..!!

Her

Her seeds were planted not so long ago,

Her stem grows strong still as she continues to grow,

Like a bud in the moonlight waiting for the sun to rise,

She waits to bloom and open her eyes,

Strong on the outside, but delicate within,

She radiates beauty as her buds begin to open.

Her heart of gold goes forth with the dawn,

As a lone bird, soft winging, so restlessly on,

Afar over life’s turrets and vales does she roam,

In the wake of those echoes her heart calls home.

Her heart it has always dreamed of the stars,

While it rises and soars way beyond the sheltering bars.

She can move the world by just saying what she believes in

She teaches not through a book, but through her pain,

She makes me smile through the childishness of her soul,

I’m watching her beauty evolve into a whole,

She desires people to understand her for her identity,

A hard exterior but a soft heart is all she’ll ever be..!!

The Mountain

A lonely mountain sleeps upon a lake of blue,

So peaceful, so serene, undisturbed glistens the dew,

Above the lake, below the gaze of the hill,

Where time lies stagnate, everything is perfectly still,

There is a cave cut into the heart of the rock,

Where lives a woman in a pearl white frock,

She comes out at daybreak to sing her ode,

Of men and monsters and their glory road,

Her song of songs grows over time,

Each of her verses they perfectly rhyme,

The warmth in her gaze it touches your soul,

Her poise, her grace, enamours you whole,

From her song rises the wave and the wind,

Sadness and grief when she sings - rescind,

She saves the world from certain death,

My infusing life through her very breath,

She stands tall and proud like her mountain home,

Patiently she waits inside her thorny dome,

She opens at the close, she ends where life begins,

She cries when you cry, and when you laugh she grins..

A place

There's a place in this world where we belong,

A place known not in any book or neither song,

Where we fly free like wind on the ocean wave,

And we roam the land strong, fearless and brave,

Where there is no limit to the depth of the sea,

A land where each of us chooses what we can be,

Where all roads do lead to the path that we need,

Our strength absolute, and love never will bleed,

Where angels bless us by spreading their wings,

And the little bird in praise of us melodies sings,

Where nature has set pieces and curtains galore,

Those high proud mountains and the rivers who roar,

Where we string our soul to silence to remember all that is lost,

And upon hearing the challenge, learn the lesson, never pay the cost,

Where we mark new void spaces on a map, as we set out to see more,

Daring the unknown, facing the wild by the score,

Where we grow through struggles and triumphs, bigger than the whole,

The essence of life, purifying forever and blessing our soul,

Where we're not cradled in custom, or pinned down by those that preach,

The only school is life, and everyday is a wonderful new lesson to teach,

Where is this place, I know not yet I seek to find,

I know it exists, it has always, since the beginning of time..!!!!

Where are they taking her?

Where are they taking her father?

Why do you seem so scared?

Why must they take her away father?

Was it because we never cared?

Did we not look after her right?

Did we not give her enough time?

Is this a result of some forlorn fight?

Or punishment for an uncommitted crime?

Why must she be the one to endure?

All the pain wrought since the begin?

Why such a harsh test for someone so pure?

And will it continue till the end?

Why did we cry through her ordeal?

When we knew she'd be fine again?

Why did we feign strength in front of her?

When we were crumbling from within?

Why did we squeal with delight father?

When we saw her wake at last?

Those tears we shed without a hitch?

Flowing freely at long last?

Why did we hold each other father?

As she began to speak again?

When she called out to us hoarsely?

Once again when her life began?

What did we learn from all this father?

From seeing us crumbling for her?

The one thing that we'd give life and limb for,

Is to keep her forevermore together.

Wander

 Ever wondered, sitting still,

What lies beyond the next hill?

Around the corner so far off,

A never-ending valley with a creepy trough?

The next door to open or the next road to take,

Should you eat a strawberry or a chocolate cake?

The cap of snow on that mighty peak,

Always declares its splendor in resounding speak!

Perhaps dreams are adventures experienced in our mind,

That leave when we awaken, their message undefined!

It's time to explore, today’s going to pass in a blur,

Be wise, be strong and empty yourself to adventure!

Lock your door as you step out & throw away that key,

From chilling fear and bitter dread keep your spirit free!

Even Old Man Tolkien said the road goes ever on and on,

Into the sunset, onward to a new dawn!

Hiatus

I picked up a pen today, to write,

Remembered, we don't write anymore, We type.

Led to a thought I chose to pursue,

Of all the changes we did accrue.

From childhood days, smothered in bliss,

To growing into this stressful abyss.

From playing outdoors - in meadows and fields,

To filling spreadsheets & closing deals.

From riding a bike on empty streets,

To atterding meetings from a car's backseat.

Waiting for a movie to air on Sundays was so exciting,

Today choosing what to watch leads to us fighting.

Waking up was joyful - everything was new,

Now we wake up to a never ending email queue.

Somewhere between 'let's party all night' to 'let's stay in tonight',

We grew up from loud & Carefree to poised and quiet.

Things that reminiscent me are aplenty,

Of growing up to the right side of 20.

A spark shines in me as I begin to write,

Hoping to ignite something happy & bright.

Here's hoping not to lose us again in this rat race,

Let's be more than texts and emails, let's remember each other's face.

Promise to wake up everyday, once again,

Not like we do now, but how we used to, back then.

Compassion

So, what do you have to say?

Is anybody happier because of you today?

Another day almost through,

Did you utter kindly words a few?

How many cheerful greetings did you pass on?

Ever shared across your favorite song?

Lent an ear to someone in need?

Who in turn would pass on the deed.

Be kind and caring in all that you do.

Because no one knows what another goes through.

Do it today and repeat tomorrow.

Help this way, to eliminate sorrow.

The seeds of your compassion, once planted,

Can never be ignored or taken for granted,

Open your heart day after day,

Earn your tomorrow by the work you did today.

She

The lighthouse blinked, deep in shadows gray,

A fog-horn bordered the distanced lines,

A few stars scattered above the bay,

And scintillating, mirrored in her eyes;

The betrothal blossoming of western winds,

That blow the world across the quay,

Melded with the rising mist, the moon rescinds,

And faded in the deepness of the dark sway;

Along the sea-wall, a steady sloshing of the swell,

The waves rising high now, far from level,

Coming closer evermore to where her love doth dwell,

She sees with her heart, the growing form of the Devil;

She breathed the lonesome air, her soul's accord,

As the tempest caressed the waves' soft voice,

Embraced she was, by the the silvering chord,

That became her undoing, lonesome choice;

The moonlight drenched in silver flame,

As two forms outlined inside the nightly coals,

Thenceforth heard her heart, and felt her claim,

As they danced their waltz above the waves and shoals;

The rain of that storm till the present, lingers,

Inspiration she seeks from an invisible spring,

She feel the passion fade through her fingers,

Life has yet so much more to bring;

Sailing across the sea with the coldest breeze,

With a rose upon her chest, she'll rest all alone,

Who knows if ever shall she rest in peace,

With her forgotten name engraved on a tombstone..!!

Darkness

They never said this is how it would unfold,
The details of the prophecy were vague and how,
We were never warned of the approaching cold,
Unprepared in our ignorance we've been left now..

The signs were crystal - solid and clear,
The cataclysm had already begun,
The world was changing - afar to here,
The swansong, it had already been sung..

The ocean she swells now to touch the sky,
Mother Earth swallows us in her gaping maw,
The mountain brothers detach with a dream to fly,
The sun himself has chosen to withdraw..

The wind, she screams with malice and mirth,
Sir Frost, he aids her in her ruthless charade,
No beast or plant now dares to give birth,
To prevent another life lost to this crusade..

She warned us enough, she bade us to stop,
The hurts she couldn't take anymore said she,
We paid no heed, continued to hack and chop,
And made her what she has become to be..

A mother's wrath, incurred we have,
By hurting her children by will,
Is it too late for us to save,
Our world for time has gone still..?

She cries for us as she purges our sin,
By means of molten rain pouring down,
She means to reboot herself from within,
And turn her frown upside down..

Armageddon, we call this, or the very end,
Her fury unmatched and her wrath unending,
We brought this upon us yet we refuse to mend,
The ways that have led to all this suffering..!

Voices

That distant voice, I can hear no more,
The pain I once felt, exited through the door,
The arrogance I owned, lays bare on the floor,
The Phoenix inside of me has let out its roar,
The debris of my faith have reached the shore,
There's so much more in life left to explore,
This short sonnet was supposed to have rhymes four,
And this last line makes it a perfect score :)

Laugh

Laugh, and the world laughs with you,
Weep, and you weep all alone.
Sing, and the hills will answer,
Sigh, and it's lost in the air.
The world echoes in your joyful sound,
But for your mirth no one will truly care.

Calm your nerves, settle down,
Don't give up, go above, and beyond.
Dream your dream, fight your fight,
Not with your fists, by doing what's right.

See everything, listen to everyone,
Young and old, daughter and son.
Breed inspiration, with your power,
With their respect, you will always tower.

When you fall, get back up again,
Peacefully protest, never bargain.
Love everything, love everyone,
Whether or not they love you in return.

The choice is yours, it will always be,
Whether you want to mope, or be happy.
Everyone fights their battles, holds their own scars,
Each of us has the same potential, to reach for the Stars.

Remember yourself, remember your faith,
There will be days, when it's all sliding through the gate,
Fight with all your strength, your passion, your will,
The world needs you, you have a purpose to fulfill.

The Window

I sit by the window thinking of the world I've seen,

Of all the places around me so far where I've been,

Of travels past and those future plans where,

The sun shines bright on my face and the wind ruffles my hair,

I sit by the window and wonder how the world would be,

If we cease to travel, will a new spring or winter we shall ever see?

For so many wonders are waiting to be seen,

Every sea is a different blue, every tree, a different green,

I sit by the window and think of people from long ago,

And of those who will see a world that we will never know,

All these thoughts urge me to do what I did before,

To pack my bags, carry my thoughts, and walk out of the front door...!!
